“Within the heart of the Americana music movement beats the spirit of authenticity. With reverence for the original roots of American music of all styles…the artists who are part of this movement represent the heritage of the past the present and the future. Their recordings remind us of our traditions and re imagine how the music can evolve and move forward.
Jeff Fasano has been documenting the seminal, legendary artists as well as the contemporary ones at the fore front of the Americana music scene for most of his career.
Like the music…his images are authentic, revealing and give us a penetrating look into the soul of his subjects. His photography captures their personality with honesty and unguarded truthfulness.”
“In our Reunion tour, 50 years after our affair, Stephen Stills and I performed 115 shows in a year and a half and had the best time together, Singing Sweet Judy Blue Eyes together every night. In music, love never dies. Jeff Fasano captured that truth.”
“What a gift it was when Jeff came into my life. His technical skills are evident, and I immediately felt calm and confident in his presence, with a knowing that my essence would be not only captured but nurtured in the images created together. The viewers will also get the chance to feel this sympatico as these gifts are shared with the world, and I am happy and honored to be a small part of this spirit-filled collection.”
“Jeff has the ability to capture the soul and vibe of the artist. I look back at his photos and remember exactly what musical season I was in.”
“Jeff has captured the essence of Americana artists in his carefully curated portraits. For a decade now, his photo sessions at AMERICANAFEST have been a highlight for our community. We're humbled to play a role in his impressive career and look forward to seeing more of his work for years to come. “
“Jeff is one of those photographers that knows how to take an artist in a simple space and capture something magical. His passion really shines through in every photo he takes and it’s always an honor to work with him!”
“We love the shots that we did with Jeff. He knows how to put you at ease and capture something relaxed, or dramatic. But most importantly, it looks like us!”
“Jeff’s portraits touch me in a way that makes me feel like I know the subject in a deeply personal way. His work does not just offer a window in time but rather a revealing look into who the artist is rather than what.”
“Several opportunities I’ve had to shoot with Jeff have presented themselves in the midst of the chaos of AmericanaFest or backstage right before or after a show where there was a frenzy of energy buzzing everywhere around me yet somehow when I got in front of his camera he had an ability to slow down time. I felt at peace in those moments and as if I was part of a movement bigger than myself. I look back at these portraits and they evoke that same sense of calm and belonging that I felt on those occasions with Jeff.”
“It’s always great to work with Jeff. He’s very skilled at guiding you into the sweet spot to get those beautiful images. I‘m always amazed going through the images after one of our shoots!”
“Jeff makes very real, natural photos quickly with little effort to we the subjects - one light and his camera - he makes it easy.”
“Every now and then you get a guy or gal walk up to you and ask to take a picture. Your mind immediately goes to your childhood school photo and your like Oh God please don’t take a bad pic of me. However there are times you get an Artist approach you and say may I photograph you and instantly you know it’s spiritual, euphoric, or elevating. With Jeff Fasano you know with every snap with every flash with every frame your in a historical moment. Some take pictures, some take photos but Jeff takes the moment, freezes it and staples it into the universe.”
“it’s always such a gift when someone passionate about photography finds you in the world. I’m grateful for the images iI have from Jeff and not just so I can share them with my fans, but because they document precious moments in my journey.”
“Jeff Fasano’s photographs have the unerring ability to stop time. That, coupled with his love of American Roots artists over the years, makes for a deep and rich chronicle of the genre.”
“The odds are that when I am at my favorite Americana shows, I’ll see a busy camera shuttering away. Occasionally, a familiar face appears from behind the lens to greet me hello. Jeff has become a part of the Americana music scene’s landscape. A dedicated historian capturing artists in their natural habitat. He seems to know before the rest of us when an artist will align with perfect lighting and the right emotion. You can see the music pouring out of them in his photographs. I am so thankful to be among the artists whose show’s Jeff has attended and I am excited he is sharing this treasure trove of beautiful and historical moments that may otherwise have been lost to time. “
“I love working with Jeff. He makes you feel comfortable. No Bullshit. Jeff brings out the real artist in his work.”
“You don’t even know Jeff is there. He just sidles up with his picture taker box and starts snapping away. It’s painless and fast. Jeff’s yer man. Mr Fasano knows how to shutter the bug like a true champion. He can put you in focus or outta focus. Either way, you’re gonna get a gem of a photo. In fact, the pics Jeff takes are perfectly gorgeous in their ability to get the point across. They tell a story. You always know when you’re lookin at a Fasano Foto. They convey a feeling and a mood. Why? Because he’s sneaky like that. He knows what he’s doing. Frankly, I’m scared of him but I keep coming back. I knead him like dough, But most of all- I love Jeff. “
"Jeff Fasano's work captures his passion for light and shadows and the way both of these things affect the mood and expressions of his subjects. His camera doesn't lie, but it has captured many tall tales."
“I met Jeff Fasano in 2008 at the Falcon Ridge Music Festival. He took my picture. A few months later my manager asked me if I remembered him and I said no, and she said "well he's really good and we should get him to do this next shoot for the new record." In a moment of brilliant inspiration I said "OK." That session happened in NYC. A couple of years later Carol (my manager) said "let's use Jeff again," and again I was inspired to say OK. Jeff was working in LA by this time, which was nice, because I had work there too. That session made me conscious of just how comfortable I was working with him...no lights, no big umbrellas, all just available light and immediate, non-pushy direction...I found myself eager to please, partly because he takes such obvious delight in what he's doing. But here's the thing...through more sessions and more places, Nashville, Santa Monica, what I discovered is that he makes me look the way I think I look when I like myself. That's no small accomplishment, it's as though he were a mind-reader combined with a mirror. Think of someone handing you a portfolio, and saying, "Here, this is your life, as you see it.." Thanks Jeff.”
“This is Tommy Emmanuel cgp writing to brag about a photographer I know. His name is Jeff Fasano and he has taken many photographs that truly capture the spirit of the Artist he's photographing, and tells their story without words! Jeff is a true Artist in photography. As a man he is always kind, patient, never pushy, always respectful, and a joy to be around. His work can look as vintage as a Sinatra photo, or explosive as a Johnny Cash Prison show! I have seen his work in books and magazines and I love what I see and hold him in the highest regard. Thanks for letting me ramble about this guy.”
“Not only is Jeff a wonderful photographer, he’s also an amazing person to work with. Jeff has an unparalleled ability to capture everything you’d ever hope to get through photography all while making everyone around him feel comfortable and relaxed. Rob Ickes and I have worked with Jeff many times over the years - including all of the photography for our album “Living In A Song”. Again, I couldn’t recommend Jeff Fasano any higher!”
“I’ve had the privilege of working with Jeff on four occasions, and his professionalism, creativity, attention to detail, and keen eye for color separate him from other photographers. Jeff has compiled an impressive portfolio, evidence of which can be found in his recent book, “Americana Portrait Sessions.” Jeff Fasano has provided exceptional quality images for many high-profile bluegrass artists, such as Sam Bush, Del McCoury, Jerry Douglas, Molly Tuttle, Dan Tyminski, Sierra Hull, The Earls of Leicester, and more. Jeff Fasano captures the essence of each musician with careful attention to the qualities that make that artist unique. Entertainers place a great amount of trust in the photographers they select to convey the image they worked to create. Being an artist encompasses much more than the notes that are played on stage. Jeff understands this and takes care to not only maintain the integrity of the entertainer’s character; he motivates his clients to explore new depths of their persona behind the lens and provides an environment that fosters this creative teamwork. “
